September writing

Hand write over Note book and light bulb on wood table

So, in September I planned to – ‘plan my second children’s novel, launch my website, and attend two writing classes – with school holidays thrown in there, too!’

So, in September, I managed to –

  • attend both of Danielle Wood’s Melbourne workshops through Writers Victoria – so glad I did!
  • attend Clare Allan-Kamil’s seminar through Writers Victoria on Writing a synopsis
  • plan SOME of my second children’s novel – half of that done in the park while somewhat supervising my kids
  • launch my website – YES and thank you so much for subscribing!

In October, I would like to work with my writing mentor, Julia Styles, through the Australian Society of Authors, on my first children’s novel. Julia has sent through an email with some of her initial thoughts, and we will talk more next week. I also want to finish planning my second children’s novel so I am ready to write it in November. I have signed up for NaNoWrMo – National Novel Writing Month. The idea is that you write a 50,000 word novel in a month, which means 1,666 words a day. Many writers don’t make the 50,000 word count but are satisfied that they have written more at the end of November than they have at the beginning of November. I’ve never done NaNoWrMo before but am willing to give it a go!
